TAIPEI—Hong Kong Human Rights Chairman Yan Sun-kong specifically flew from Hong Kong to Taiwan on March 18, 2008 to see the Divine Performing Arts' closing show in Taipei. He said after seeing the show, "Today's programs are very special, and all of the dances and songs are of a very high caliber. Yet, most significant is its vivid representation of the 5000-year culture in the acts adapted from the stories familiar to the general public."

As concurrent chairman of the Federation for a Democratic China (Hong Kong), Yan explained, "Because contemporary arts concentrate too much on techniques and pursue the so-called modernism, many people have forgotten that we have thousands of years of culture in which numerous topics, legends, beautiful things, and positive stories may guide us to be righteous."

"The artistic aspect of the show is enough to make one feel satisfied, not to mention the fact that the audience can gain far more than just seeing an artistic performance. In this regard, it is encouraging."

"We should vigorously promote good shows like this to help people understand that art is something more than technique. There should be positive connotations that can touch people's hearts and make them feel proud of their own culture. Given that, I think the show this evening is very successful. I'd like to express my congratulations on the great success."

Speaking of the content of the programs, he pointed out that the connotation of taking persecuted Falun Gong practitioners to heaven by fairies in the scene of "The Risen Lotus Flower" is very good. He added that although there are a many miseries in the world, with righteousness, we should not be fearful, and instead, we should live with hope. Life must continue, and we must look at the bright side of the future. This kind of connotation is very meaningful.

Yan said, "It is a pity that the Chinese Spectacular is not going to perform in Hong Kong. Hong Kong is a very special district, and the show should have been performed there. Of course, there must be many difficulties, including interference in various aspects."

Yan had heard that the Chinese Communist Party had pressured the Korean venue on the day of the performance to cancel in Pusan. Upon learning of the Korean sponsor's reversal, Yan said, "Congratulations on going back to perform in Korea again."
