KUALA LUMPUR—The Malaysia NTDTV Global Media Network held a press conference in Corona Inn on March 18 to disclose how Beijing forced the Divine Performing Arts' (DPA) to cancel its Chinese Spectacular in Malaysia. Dozens of citizens, police, and reporters attended the conference.

Huang Meiyi, a spokesperson for NTDTV in Malaysia, explicated what happened: "The Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) embassy in Malaysia pressured Malaysia's Ministry of Culture, Arts and Heritage (MCAH) to cancel the Chinese Spectacular. The MCAH sent a notice to the DPA the end of February to cancel the shows."

"The Chinese embassy sent letters to Malaysian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and MCAH to protest about the Divine Performing Arts coming to Malaysia. They don't have the right to do so," said Huang.

Huang displayed at the press conference the approval and the cancellation notices from the MCAH. She said that NTDTV has started to refund tickets sold. Many audiences regretted the cancellation.

"Ticketpro, out ticket sales company, told us that a man called and was furious upon leaning the cancellation. He said that he refused to refund and insisted on wanting to watch the Spectacular. He also said that he would bring a reporter to report about this incident," said Huang.

"Ms. Huang, who has bought the ticket, said that she was very upset after learning the news. She immediately wrote a letter to Minister of MCAH, Rais Yatim, hoping he can approve the DPA to perform in Malaysia," continued Huang, "She even volunteered not to get her refund from NTDTV."

Huang has collected hundreds of signatures in two days. She called the Malaysia Prime Minister to issue a permit for the DPA to perform in Malaysia.
