STOCKHOLM—"It was really good–I was impressed by the diversity of the show," said Yassar Morabvakshei, a game designer for Electronic Arts after viewing Divine Performing Arts' opening night of Chinese Spectacular at Stockholm, Sweden's Circus Theatre Thursday evening.
He continued, "It has both soft and feminine parts and dances which is what the ladies did. And it also has the masculine, hard parts, such as the drums and things like that."
"Everything was well coordinated, very smooth and flawless which was very impressive. I mean, it was really beautiful." We asked Morabvakshei whether or not he had ever seen a performance like this and he felt it drew similarities to the famous Cirque Du Soleil in Las Vegas.
"Well in Vegas with the Cirque Du Soleil... because the scope and scale of both performances were about on par with each other. Both artists are very professional and do very advanced moves."
"But this show had more cultural aspects to it, whereas the Cirque Du Soleil was more showy. But this is definitely in the same caliber."
As for how he felt about the Chinese Embassy's attempts to stop the show in Sweden because of pieces which depict the persecution of Falun Gong by the Chinese Communist Party, Morabvakshei said, "It is really not up to them [the Embassy]. This is not politics, this is art."
