PARIS—The last show of the Divine Performing Arts Spectacular came to a perfect conclusion in Paris on March 2, 2008. Parisians, who are well-known for their appreciation of the arts, applauded and sighed in awe, expressing their love for the performance.
Ms. Zhang Mei came to France from Shandong Province six years ago. She came to watch the Spectacular with her friend Mr. Roger Pierre twice in a row. She had difficulty holding back her joyfulness and excitement when she expressed her feelings to the reporter.
"I noticed other people were tearing too."
Ms. Zhang said: "I feel very proud of our ancient Chinese culture. Our culture is so brilliant. When seated here, I feel fortunate for myself to be a Chinese. When Tenor Guan Guimin sang that song ''Who Am I", the words 'walking diligently on a divine path' made me feel so moved. I literally cried. It touched my heart so tremendously; I cannot find words to describe it."
"If there are people who didn't come to watch the Spectacular because they did not know about it, I really feel sorry for them. I hope I will be able to come watch the Spectacular every year. It's a great encouragement for us overseas Chinese. It is a hope in our life. I noticed other people were shedding tears too."
Ms. Zhang said her favorite piece included "Descent of Celetial Kings," "Water Sleeves," and "Mongmlian Bowl Dance." "They are extremely beautiful. The drum performance is very powerful."
According to Ms. Zhang, her friend Roger also likes Chinese culture very much. "How come it was ended so soon?" They both felt the two hours went by too fast.
