PARIS—The Divine Performing Arts Chinese Spectacular, currently playing at the Palais des Congres in Paris, continues to charm audiences with its authentic portrayal of Chinese culture.

“Everything is in harmony between the dance and the music, its really sensational,” said Michel Chevessier, General Manager of an Auchan hypermarket, who attended Saturday’s show.

“I am discovering something with a lot of romanticism, charm and light. Scenes that come and go one after another, that lead us to another world, to another universe.”

Chevassier was impressed with the harmony between the performers and the music, consisting of a blend of Chinese and western instruments.

“We are really carried by the charm of the dancers, of the backdrop, what it represents, the music also. Everything is in harmony between the dance and the music, it’s really sensational.”

Chevassier said he especially enjoyed Water Sleeves and The Risen Lotus, adding that he heard about the Spectacular at his workplace.

“I work in a place with 30 nationalities in my workforce. I have Asians, I have Chinese people, they invited me to come…. I think freedom of thought is important in the world in which we are living today, and so is freedom of expression.”

Yves Vendeval, a high school geography teacher, was also highly impressed with the Spectacular.

“Very, very beautiful, very visual with a lot of shimmering colors and a lot of grace in the dancing,” he said.

“There is a lot of strength. Originally, it was something warlike. Nowadays, it has another dimension but it’s very strong.”

“You [China] have such a rich culture, to know all the legends and all the subtleties some more time will be needed.”

“Its entertaining. It’s a show, so we come above all to be entertained,” added Vendeval.
