PARIS—"It's magnificent, magnificent," said Madame LeNoir, an assistant manager. "Superb, very, very pretty."

Le Noir was commenting on the Divine Performing Arts Chinese Spectacular, currently playing at the Palais des Congres in Paris.

"Everything was artistic and very, very pretty, the gestures, the scenery, the costumes."

Asked whether she would see the show again next year, LeNoir replied, "Yes, with other people so they can see it, so they can know it."

Colette Duclou, a retired teacher who also attended Saturday's show, said she appreciated the artistic and poetic aspects of the Spectacular.

"It's very poetic. As a whole what I appreciate is the poetry it radiates, its very refined. I say its very varied, very good staging, and remarkable costumes," said Duclou.

"I'm not speaking here of course of the last one, the drums, where there is a mixture of war dance. But it's very refined, in general."

Duclos added that the design of the costumes augmented the arm gestures in the dances.

"It's very pretty."

Sophie Becket, 27, said one of her favourite acts was Nymphs of the Sea

"I liked the water scene with the way water was evoked. I liked the fans also. I was more touched by the dance and the songs than by the scenes of Chinese culture."

"I found that some scenes were a little hard to understand for Europeans but the dance is very aesthetic and also the songs," said Becket.

After Paris, the Divine Performing Arts tour will continue on to Switzerland, Austria, Slovakia and the Czech Republic.
