PARIS–In the first of a four-show run at the Palais des Congres in Paris on Saturday, the Divine Performing Arts Chinese Spectacular wowed the audience with its authentic portrayal of Chinese culture.
Ribault Menetiere Michel, former deputy general director of the health insurance group MACSF, talked about his impression of the show.
"The Divine Performing Arts performance was fabulous. The dances were exquisite, and the costumes were spectacular. From an artistic point of view, France is also a country with a long history, yet its history is not as long as China's," said Michel.
"I very much admire these Chinese artists who came to Paris. They have brought Chinese art that I've never seen before. This is a culture completely new to me. At the same time, I also enjoyed the live orchestra. Divine Performing Arts used a unique way to express traditional Chinese culture."
Michel added that he was impressed with the spiritual aspect of the Spectacular. "Divine Performing Arts demonstrated a profound spiritual realm and an aspiration for spirituality and culture. I caught on the main theme of the show shortly after it began. It is indeed precious for Chinese people outside of China to express their independent thought, which is not allowed for those in China. The Divine Performing Arts achieved this."
"I am honored by the fact that Paris is one of the main cities of the Divine Performing Arts European tour. It is amazing that Divine Performing Arts was able to successfully bring me, a Frenchman, into Eastern culture and," he added.
