HAMBURG—Well known host of TV's "Tagesschau" (Daily Show), Dagmar Berghoff took in Sunday evening's performance of Divine Performing Arts' Chinese Spectacular at Hamburg's Habour Theatre, and she was delighted.
"I like the show very much, especially the scenery. There were so many lovely costumes, there were so many lovely backgrounds to see," she remarked happily.
"I like the dancing very much; they were full of force, I like that most. I like the little girl, oh she was so lovely. The whole show is lovely."
Berghoff also felt that Chinese Spectacular captured the nature of China accurately and helped her learn about the culture. "I think the show is very much of China. Also, so that we can learn a little bit, the [hostess] told [the audience] a lot about China, so I like the show."
Christine works as an assistant managing director and was at the Chinese Spectacular : "but I missed this part of China," she said.
"My impression was in Shanghai and also in Peking that China has to take care not to loose those kinds of tradition. Very very old tradition. So I am deeply touched. And I wish them all good luck."
She enjoyed "the grace and the elegance of the dancers."
"Just the all choreography was very nice. I like the way the hosts - he is European right - I liked it that he spoke Chinese and she took the German part. I really liked that one."
"I like everything because I love China...So I am pleased that they came."
"I am really deeply connected with the China culture and tradition."
She said there were a lot of Chinese people at the show.
"And the Chinese got the little things in it [the show]...cause the Chinese really like to have fun. And this is what is missing in a town like Hamburg."
She said she went to China last August to see "some old souls."
"When I went to Shanghai I went in all these old temples. And there you can find these really old things. Which is really deep touching you and your heart and your body and your soul. So what also brought the show."
She said she really liked the contemporary dance pieces.
"The three words. What were they?.. praise, barmherzigkeit, warhhaftigkeit and...nachsicht [truthfulness, compassion and tolerance]. I really like that. Because this is what could change the world."
She said she has felt very close to China, Chinese calligraphy, and likes the dress "and they fit me very nice."
She said she would tell her friends to go to the show and "open your heart and be touched."
