HAMBURG—"There were so many parts that were so beautiful," said Stephan Görth, Boutique Manager for Omega Watches. He attended Divine Performing Arts' Chinese Spectacular Sunday evening in Hamburg, Germany at the Theatre in the Harbor.
Görth, whose company owns several shops in China and is also a sponsor for the Hamburg Spectacular , felt that he learned about Chinese culture.
"I know only a little bit about China from the newspaper or from some people who [I talk to], but here there was a little bit more we could learn here."
"I think I still don't know enough, but I think the main problem is very clear. It is the same as it was here in Germany with East and West Germany. I think it was the same problem."
"East Germany was more Russian and more communist, I think it is the same in China. There's only one person who tells people what to do and that is no good."
He continued, "Democracy and so on is very important. I think it is better for the people in China that they change the policy."
Görth also feels that the show is valuable in helping Germans understand Chinese culture better, "I think people must watch the show. It is very important for all people to watch the culture of China. In Germany we know almost nothing about Asian culture and Chinese culture, so we can understand the culture more when we watch the show."
"It is important because China is a big market for the world and China grows very fast. I think China is a big part of the new world so it is important to know something more about China."
"What we know is not enough. We have many Chinese restaurants in Hamburg but we don't know more. Chinese food is fine but is there more?"
Görth spoke highly of the piece Power of Awareness , which depicts the persecution against Falun Gong practitioners in China. "At the moment when the people walk on stage with the three signs. I was very impressed."
"When the performers were dancing and the police were coming was very very good for me. You can understand the situation in China a little bit better [through that]."
Görth praised the artist's abilities and expressed his wishes to see the show again next year. "It is astonishing what they can do with their bodies, the dancing and so on it is very nice.
"The singers have a very nice voice. They are very clear and I think it is a nice group [of people]."
"The soprano was very good. The drummers were very good, the costumes... it was beautiful the dancing and so on. All together it was a very good and big show."
"I hope they have much success in the future and I hope that they will come back. Next year, I will bring some friends."
