HAMBURG, Germany—Renate and Hans-Joachim Reuter, a married couple from Cuxhafen, were very excited after they had seen the Chinese Spectacular in Hamburg. "I am absolutely satisfied, happy to have seen it," stated Renate Reuter in an interview with The Epoch Times .
Her husband added: "It is really fantastic. I had not expected it to be so beautiful; that really is true. One cannot say anything more except that everybody should watch this show." She laughed and said: "And my husband does not like ballet. But this here—he was really excited."
Moved by scenes of contemporary persecution contained in the show, Hans-Joachim Reuter, formerly employed in the electrical industry, reported his own experiences:
"I also know that from the past. I experienced the Nazi Regime. And when that was over, I also had to adjust. I then for the first time recognized what really had happened. That it was a dictatorship, which cannot be allowed to exist in this form. And therefore, I do understand the people who come from such dictatorships, and that they are not able to adjust so quickly."
His wife also said: "It [those scenes] did not shock us; I found it to be alright. This has to be mentioned, it is happening… Some people just cannot hear the truth."
With this kind of performance, the artists expressed hope and the wish that China will once again return to its original roots. Hans-Joachim Reuter concluded: "On one side, it is possible that the living standard in China has improved, but that is not enough. Here inside, the inside, that must be improved. One should be allowed to tell the truth without being persecuted."
