BERLIN—The Divine Performing Arts dance company presented its last Berlin performance of the Chinese Spectacular at International Congress Center on March 16.
Audience members praised the show for its beautiful dances and the live symphony orchestra.
"Beautiful and spectacular" said archeology student Jasper Wollny.
Wollny said he liked all the dances but his favorite performance was 'Nymphs of the Sea'. He said he liked the dancers, especially the ones that used fabric and fans to give the impression of water on the stage.
"It was beautiful," he repeated.
One of the dances presented the story of a female Falun Gong practitioner imprisoned in jail. Wollny said that one gave him many different impressions.
"It was sad and at the same time beautiful. I think the message was for a hope."
Wollny said he wished his friends could see the show, "Yes, it was spectacular."
Philippe, a chef who only gave his first name, said he enjoyed each dance and musical composition of the 'Spectacular'.
"It was marvelous. Very, very fine."
Philippe said he had never seen a show like the Spectacular before and enjoyed the cultural nature of the performances.
"I have always been fascinated from China. I like this land very much. This is the reason why I came tonight for the show."
Like Wollny, Philippe also said that 'Nymphs of the Sea' was his favorite dance.
The 'Spectacular' finished its Berlin run with long applause and three curtain calls. Some audience members gave the show a standing ovation, which is not common in Germany.
The 'Spectacular' will stay in Germany for one show in Hamburg before continuing to Stockholm, Sweden.
