BERLIN—The Divine Performing Arts Chinese Spectacular continues to enthrall audiences during its three-day run at Berlin's International Congress Center.
Mr. Becker-Zang, who attended Saturday's performance, said he found the show "very interesting, very contemporary and excellently done."
"The dramatic performance and the dances were good, the actors are really very good. The music and the singing were very good," said Becker-Zang, who works in real estate and the raw materials trade.
In addition to spanning 5,000 years of history and featuring dances from various ethnic cultures from within China as well as Korea, Mongolia and Tibet, the Spectacular also touches on some current human rights issues in China such as the persecution of Falun Gong.
Becker-Zang remarked on this, saying the show is "contemporary in regard to what is happening in Tibet at the moment — one could see the connections….
"I think that the Tibetan people have the right to liberty, which they also want to show in connection with the Olympics now. I therefore think that the Chinese government must learn to find another way to handle these things — different from how they did before. One must deal fairly and openly with each other, then we can reach much more, I think.
Regarding the spiritual aspect of the Spectacular, Becker-Zang said that he was "able to feel this very much. I myself am active in the Shaolin temple and in this respect there is a reference to the Chinese culture. I think it is important that it be represented like this. It can only broaden people's horizons."
