BERLIN—His Excellency Candido Muatetema Rivas, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Equatorial Guinea watched the Chinese Spectacular performance on Saturday, March 15, at the International Congress Center Berlin.
"The show was wonderful, just wonderful," said His Excellency.
This was not the first time His Excellency Rivas has seen a Chinese show. "I was in 1998 and 1999 in China...I believe to have seen something similar in China. Yet, this show is completely different when one experiences something like this outside China."
His Excellency was especially impressed with how the Spectacular contained the culture of the Chinese society, which he felt was "the difference" between this show and the others.
The Chinese Spectacular is important because it helps "people understand China better. Not only that, they also will understand what China is really all about," said His Excellency.
When asked if he would invite this show to his country he didn't hesitate and answered, "Wonderful -- why not? We have to do that. We are living in a modernizing society and have to learn about each other's culture. We have to understand more about each other's society."
Before parting he said, "I loved this performance. Every scene is unique and different. All of it is very graceful."
Candido Muatetema Rivas was Head of State of the Republic of Equatorial Guinea from March 2001 to 2004. His Excellency has been posted to Germany as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic Equatorial Guinea since 2005. The Republic of Equatorial Guinea is a country in Central Africa and borders Cameroon at its northern borders. There are about 520,000 inhabitants in the Republic of Equatorial Guinea.
