BERLIN—Dr. Makase Nyaphisi, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Lesotho to Germany, attended the March 15 Chinese Spectacular performance in Berlin.
For the African Ambassador, improving understanding between nations is an important concern and he believes that the performance has helped to enhance this understanding.
Dr. Nyadhisi's wish is that more young people especially can watch the Spectacular and become inspired by the values it portrays. An excerpt from the Ambassador's comments after the show follows.
"The three principles [Truthfulness, Compassion, and Tolerance] have awakened my senses. Well done."
"I have understood that evil will not prevail over good. Good will always defeat evil. They have shown that very clearly and I also find that very important."
"Unfortunately, there are only very few such pieces. I especially think that it is very important for young people, that such pieces are coming forth. That no matter what one does, good must always be present. That is why we are here to improve our life and the world. Truth and kindness will always conquer evil."
Dr. Nyadhisi was referring to the two pieces, 'The Risen Lotus Flower' and 'The Power of Awareness', which depict scenes from contemporary China in which Falun Gong practitioners retain their goodness in the face of persecution.
"I also felt this inner energy when this piece was shown. I felt as though I was there on stage. I wanted to dance with them, that's how one feels. One is being involved, not like a spectator in the back, but as a part of the actors, with much energy."
"Culture is a means of understanding among nations. Every culture is very important. When one understands that, then one has a better understanding of people. Every culture is special. It is good not to only know the people, but also the culture. Therefore, I believe it is good to come here. I have lots of Chinese friends, who I now am able to understand better."
"It was really magnificent. I am so very glad that I came. I liked the drums mostly, but also the Mongolian bowl dance. The drummers were so hearty and energetic. The piece with the Chinese violin, the Erhu, was also very good, as well as the accompanying piano."
"The friendliness, the compassion – it has been very beautiful, fantastic."
