BERLIN-The Shen Yun Chinese Spectacular fascinated Berliners Gabriela Korus and Sony Mayerheim, with its colors and fantastic portrayals. "It was exceedingly nice and something quite special," commented physician Sony Mayerheim. Dr. Mayerheim was especially enchanted by the drum and chopstick dances.

"The combination of staves and cups [Chopstick Zest and Mongolian Bowl Dance] was particularly interesting," added medical scientist Gabriela Korus. She balances her research career with amateur dancing.

The show brought both of them a unique experience. "The performance is superbly entertaining, and everything is clearly and vividly presented."

"Classical Western ballet can sometimes tire the viewer, because it revolved around technique and the dancers' faces do not display any emotion. Here, with the mimicking...it is more pleasant."

Gabriela Korus found the characterization of men and women remarkable.

"A Western ballet portrayal of a Pas de Deux seems gender-less; the male and female roles do exist, but they seem to melt into one. The typical motions are lacking, the difference between Yin and Yang, as you have it here. I like that particularly well, those beautiful contrasts that need to be there. Those contrasts are what makes this unique."
