BERLIN—Xiulian Fan, who works as a nurse in Germany, originally comes from Guangdong province in southern Mainland China. After seeing the Chinese Spectacular at Berlin's International Congress Centre on Saturday, Fan said what the show portrayed was a true rendition of Chinese traditional culture.

"Very good, very good," she said, "I liked everything, the singing, dancing and the background pictures. That for me is one hundred per cent typical Chinese culture. Every movement, every dance, every song and music...The slow movements were also typical. I liked the drums best, that is so very typical of Chinese culture."

A lavish showcase of traditional Chinese dance and music, the Spectacular has been touring the world since 2004, playing at the most prestigious venues. The show is best known for its colourful large-scale dance dramas that touch on the myths and legends of different ancient dynasties as well as provocative modern-day tales.

Through the Spectacular, the New York-based Divine Performing Arts has been spurring a renaissance of traditional culture.
