BERLIN—Mr. and Mrs. Luedtke from Berlin-Spandau were completely delighted with the Chinese Spectacular on Friday at Berlin's International Congress Center.

"We loved everything—the entire show. It was so meaningful," said Mr. Luedtke. The couple agreed that the show was completely different from other performances with similar themes and that they understood the show's message about the tenants of Buddhist, Taoist and Confucian culture.

The bi-lingual approach impressed Mr. Luedtke, a construction/design engineer. His wife interjected that it was important that the "fellow countrymen" of the Chinese performers could understand the performance as well "and not just us locals."

Mrs. Luedtke also enjoyed the dancers in their beautiful costumes. "They all moved like feathers. It was like a perfect dream. We will be able to think about all we saw for a long time," she said.

In "Nymphs of the Sea," the Divine Performing Arts dancers use unique costumes and choreography to mimic waves on the sea. Ms. Kerinniz said she was especially impressed with this effect and how the water "constantly keeps flowing, with constant movement." She laughingly compared the scene to her mood this evening and felt it fit nicely with her frame of mind.

During the intermission, some theater-goers discussed the deeper cultural essence that came through in the performance. Journalist Heike Kerinniz said, "One has to let the mystical and transcendental sink in for a while. One really needs to look beyond the mere performance, the figures and the dance."

The Luedtkes said they would be recommending this show to their acquaintances.
