Taiwan's Vice President, Ms. Annette Lu, was a special honored guest at the March 15 evening performance of the Divine Performing Arts (DPA) Company's Chinese Spectacular in Taipei City. The show opened its four-day run with an afternoon performance at the Taipei International Convention Center.

When the DPA group first arrived in Taiwan on February 28 to begin its cross island tour, Ms. Lu had sent a congratulatory telegraph to the company praising them for their "delicate, elegant and thought-provoking" performances.

In the telegraph, Vice President Lu said, "To all members of the Divine Performing Arts Company: I am delighted to hear about your performance tour in Taiwan from February 29 to March 20, and would like to express my congratulations. Your company has been promoting traditional culture. Based on the ideals of interpreting the history and reproduce its glory, your performance has combined the arts of music and dance, and presented a unique and perfect visual and audio feast. It's delicate, elegant and thought-provoking. You have received broad acceptance and recognition from all sectors of Taiwanese society. I hereby wish your performances a complete success. Best regards to your health and an enjoyable New Year."

This is the third time that Ms. Lu has offered her congratulations to the New York based arts company. On April 7, 2007 at the Spectacular's 2007 Taipei debut, she spoke for three minutes, praising the show for "maintaining the cultural treasures of the prosperous Han and Tang dynasties." In an interview with NTDTV last January, Ms. Lu referred to the DPA's performances as "the best show" and she hoped that the wonderfulness of Chinese culture would be passed down and continue to blossom.
