KAOHSIUNG, Taiwan—In the artistic hub of Kaohsiung, Taiwan, Li Wunan is well-known as a harpist and composer. After enjoying the final Divine Performing Arts show in Kaohsiung on March 8, he could only sing his praises of the performance.
Li said with admiration, "The Divine Performing Arts made enormous breakthroughs in organizing this show. It is a huge success. It makes us Chinese people proud of our heritage."
He exclaimed that the dancers were "most exquisite", and said that each one of the performers was "very professional". "It is quite evident that the dancers went through extensive and stringent training to be able to perform to the standards of expression and movement," he said. "Each movement of the hands and legs communicated strength and beauty."
The harpist said he couldn't help but admire how well the artists, the music, and the costumes complemented each other. "Each program was choreographed with meticulous design and planning. They are very fresh, novel, and exquisite. They were perfect."
The dancing drama, The Fruits of Goodness, touched Li's heart deeply. He said excitedly, "The visual effect is amazing. The digital imaging set the scene with rain in the background, and the picture appeared with the sounds of gorging water, rain and thunder. It was vivid and lifelike. It's a huge breakthrough. I've never seen something like this. It was an incredible innovation.
He also enjoyed the singers' performances. "[These singers] will never lose to European opera singers," he said. "Their voices are powerful, and very full. One rarely hears such voices in Taiwan. They also had such a wide range of tones. It was terrific!"
