PRAGUE, Czech Republic—"I was deeply interested and deeply surprised and happy that I learned something more about Chinese culture," said retired news editor George Konror after attending Tuesday's presentation of the Chinese Spectacular at the Prague Congress Center.
Konror said he was most impressed by the first dance of the show that presented a scene of heaven complete with Buddhas and dancing heavenly maidens.
"It was a nice shock of culture," he said.
Konror, who is 83, said that if he is still alive when the show returns next year he will "with pleasure come again."
"I am happy I learned something more about real culture … European culture is truly different. Chinese culture is older and we have to learn something more," he said.
"From an old fellow—I am surely the oldest participant in the audience, is my opinion—Thank you many times."
Former-dancer-turned-businessman, Jiří Sosnovec, also praised the show.
"I like it very much," he said. "It is super."
"They are excellent," he said describing the dances that comprise the Spectacular.
Sosnovec praised the performers for how they worked with their hands, positioned their bodies, and harmonized their movements with the music.
"Everything is beautiful," he said
The Spectacular is performed by Divine Performing Arts, a New York-based dance company. The company will hold its final Prague performance on Wednesday before continuing the European portion of its global tour with dates in Berlin and Stockholm.
