PRAGUE, Czech Republic—As the Divine Performing Arts Chinese Spectacular continues its run at the Prague Congress Center, audience members such as Hanka Vyskocilova, continue to praise the show.
"The show was great, it was fantastic. I liked the stage design very much. I not only admired the dance but also how everything was put together. The choreography was unique. And the backdrop—that was outstanding."
An international business school student, Vyskocilova said the erhu performance was one of her favorites. The two-stringed erhu is known for its wide range of notes and mellow, haunting sound.
"This show was special, because it depicts Chinese culture. It is not often that we have the opportunity to see something this special. Although we live in a globalised world, we don't fully know about different cultures. We enjoyed it."
She liked every aspect of the show, "from the costumes to the cultural theme, the new dimension and as one should perceive another culture."
Miroslava Cinkeisova, an elementary school principal, also enjoyed the Spectacular.
"I just liked the show. I basically liked everything, but come to think of it, I favored the drums above all, because the drums where so rhythmical and one could feel the energy," said Cinkeisova.
Cinkeisova mentioned some scenes in the Spectacular exposing human rights abuses in contemporary China.
"Well, the scenes in the show explain the situation in today's China. Although they want to be accepted by international society through the Olympics, deep down there's still censorship."
By the end of its international tour, the Chinese Spectacular will have played at 65 cities on four continents to an audience of about 650,000 people.
