PRAGUE, Czech Republic—The Divine Performing Arts Chinese Spectacular , currently playing at the Prague Congress Center, showcases 5,000 years of traditional Chinese culture through music and dance.

"I liked the show," said Janna Bospisilova, a medical school student who attended Tuesday's matinee.

"My favorite performance was 'Nymphs of the Sea.' I liked the performance over all and I liked the way it looked. I preferred the dances to the songs that were sung."

The Spectacular was Bospisilova's first exposure to Chinese classical arts.

"I didn't know anything about Chinese art, and the show introduced me to something special about Chinese culture. I really enjoyed it. I thought the presentation was nice and I liked that they said everything in Chinese, English, and Czech."

She was surprised to learn that a Czech television station reported that the Chinese embassy tried to prevent people from seeing the show. "I didn't know that the embassy did this until just now."

"I think that communism is a big problem in China … I know the Chinese people are forbidden to say and do certain things. Like they can't read certain newspapers and some websites can't be accessed."

"I liked the piece in the show that talked about a [spiritual practice] called Falun Gong," Bospisilova said. "I have never heard of this before. I will have to look it up on the Internet when I get home. It is something brand new to me."
