PRAGUE, Czech Republic—Jaromir Novak, a tea specialist and China expert, was impressed by what he saw when he attended the Divine Performing Arts Chinese Spectacular at the Congress Center in Prague on Tuesday.

"I truly liked the traditional elements of the show," he said. "I liked most the Mongolian dances. I also loved the traditional Chinese or Tibetan dances."

Novak was especially impressed with the choreography and the presence of Chinese instruments.

"Beautifully choreographed, showed a fabulous dancing performance, and brought to the West traditional Chinese instruments. It is something especially for those who like Asia."

Novak added that the Spectacular "was not only very inspirational, but also very pleasurable. As I said, I preferred the traditional scenes more than the ones that had drawn on the global atmosphere."

He saw in the show something not many expressed.

"For me, this performance was about China coming closer to Europe, to European traditions." He also said that "before, China was closed to the world, and now, this performance shows the world that they are opening up to the world's community."

"I think every human has to know its roots. If someone cuts off the root, the tree cannot blossom, so I welcome it," he said.

Novak noted that the show brought out something of the dark side of modern China.

"I sensed this performance also shows the things which are happening now in China. It's something that is not new to me."

The Prague Congress Center is one of Europe's largest conference centers, consisting of 20 halls and 50 meeting rooms. Groups as small as two and as large as 2,764 can be accommodated at the center.

By the end of its international tour, the Chinese Spectacular will have played at 65 cities around the world to an audience of about 650,000 people.
