Student Says 'Chinese Spectacular' Was 'Fantastic'

BRATISLAVA—Magdalen Bachanova is a native of Rouzomberok and studies in Bratislava. She said she just had to see the Chinese Spectacular.

"After I heard about the show my first thought was that I had to see this show. I know that the show is more than just the costumes, which are very beautiful. But I knew that there was more behind the show."

She saw the show at the Slovakian National Theater on Sunday.

Ms. Bachanova had to wait until after the show to explain more clearly what she thought about the show, saying "the show was fantastic, especially the last scene with the Tang drums. The artists moved with the rhythm. They really delivered it very well."

Ms. Bachanova had not been really interested in Chinese culture before seeing the show but said she knew about the human rights violations in China.

Built in 1920, The Slovakian National Theater is the most important cultural institution in Bratislava. The Chinese Spectacular was performed in the new opera and ballet hall that opened last April. The show was sold out.
