BRATISLAVA, Slovakia—The Divine Performing Arts Chinese Spectacular wowed the audience at Bratislava’s National Theater on Sunday evening, closing to an enthusiastic standing ovation.
Darina Sandova, who works in the medical profession, enjoyed every aspect of the show.
"This show was unique, marvellous, emotional. I liked it very much, mainly the Chinese drums and the background where the scenes were displayed. Wonderful show. I like the dance very much. The ballet was gorgeous, the songs were beautiful — I liked them very much."
Mariana Sablova, a tap dancer, said what most impressed her about the Spectacular were the dances, in particular the Mongolian Bowl Dance and Lightness and Grace.
She was also struck by some human rights abuses in China that were touched on in the show.
“This show impressed me by the fact that it was expressing a sad story about suffering, actually I think it is suffering of the Chinese people who live under the communist regime and people who live outside of China try to do something for the regime to change.
“After this show I think the whole of Bratislava and Slovakia who saw the show will do anything in their power to change something, for sure, and we are very thankful for a chance to see it,” said Sablova. After Bratislava, the Spectacular will carry on to Prague. A total of 35 shows will be seen in 14 European countries. Worldwide, the tour spans over 60 cities in 14 countries, expecting to reach a total live audience of about 650,000.
