GENEVA-Ms. Tcheng teaches physics and chemistry. She said she loved the show. “It’s refreshing, colorful and dynamic,” she said. “It beautifully expressed Confucius, Buddhist and Taoist philosophies, which is very touching. The dancers are very professional, too!” Tcheng said she loved all the programs, such as the poetic “The Lady of the Moon,” the picturesque “Water Sleeves” and the powerful drum dances.
Her friend Ms. Vassard, a former history teacher and training consultant, said the Erhu performance deeply touched her heart. “I could feel the truthfulness and love flowing out with the music!” she exclaimed. “The singers are great! Tenor Guan Guimin is magnificent!”
Vassard said she used to practice Chinese painting, through which she expected to improve the ability to concentrate and to know herself better.
“The colors of the backdrops are very unique,” she said. “In traditional Chinese painting, light red and blue are never used, but yellow, bluish-gray are used in Chinese watercolor paintings.” She added proudly, “From the backdrops I can recognize the harmonious characteristics of traditional Chinese painting skills. The whole scene is very well designed with painting techniques, but it has much stronger and more realistic visual effect than a painting because of the artists’ performances.”
