VIENNA, Austria—The Divine Performing Arts Chinese Spectacular returned to Vienna's Stadthalle on Friday. A married couple—Earl Lahamon and his wife, Joyce—were impressed with the show's content.
Both Earl and Joyce are retired professors who each taught mathematics. Earl taught for 42 years, while Joyce taught for 30 years. They discovered the Spectacular via the Internet, as they have scheduled concerts and ballets through the Internet.
When asked about the show, Earl said, "It is a very nice show, and to me, it looked like a ballet with ribbons—the costumes were beautiful."
Joyce also enjoyed the show very much as well.
"Music is a world language," she said. "The coordination of the drums, the beat—no one missed a beat—is great. Their dancing was well coordinated with the other dancers; their movements were smooth, fluid, easy, and just beautiful. I really enjoyed it."
Earl was also impressed with the video effects of the electronic backdrop.
"I especially enjoyed the video effects. [In "The Risen Lotus Flower"] When the person on stage was stabbed and then died, the angels took her away to heaven—that was effective. The video effects were an especially nice aspect of the show because I have not seen effects of that kind in a live performance."
