BRATISLAVA, Slovakia—The premiere of the Divine Performing Arts Chinese Spectacular at the Slovak Natuional Theater in Bratislava received a standing ovation from a full house on Sunday evening.
Audience members such as bank worker Slavomir Beno were impressed with the Spectacular’s portrayal of Chinese traditional culture.
“It's very hard for me to pick any one particular performance that I liked the most, since everything was so impressive,” said Beno.
“The images were fairy-tale-like, but my favorite performances were Drummers of the Tang Court and Resounding Drums…. Also, sound became a material element which was resounding out through those drums.”
Drawing from China’s 5,000-year culture, the Spectacular seeks to present not only dances and music, but also the gentle beauty, demeanor and values that were upheld by the people in ancient times. This resonated with Beno.
”I especially enjoyed the presentation of traditional Chinese values and the artistic way they were presented here through song and dance. The entire show is very poetic, very impressive – very nice!”
After Bratislava, the Spectacular will carry on to Prague. A total of 35 shows will be seen in 14 European countries.
