PARIS—On February 29, 2008, the first performance in Paris given by Divine Performing Arts was well received. The elegant classical Chinese dances, beautiful backdrops, legendary and contemporary stories, and the seamless combination of eastern and western musical instruments won enthusiastic applause and exuberant calls for encores from an audience at the theatre of Paris International Convention Center. Chinese viewers among them felt proud and decided to invite their friends and family to come and watch the performance again.
A young man named Patrick and his sister Estelle were from Wenzhou City, China. They felt so good being Chinese after watching the show. "It was enchanting! I was most impressed by 'Nymphs of the Sea'," said Patrick. "Every one of the performance was very elegant. It was simply wonderful!"
One of Patrick's friends couldn't have enough of 'Victory Drums' that evoked the inner strength and perseverance of real masculinity, and the warm reaction from French viewers around him made him feel proud of being Chinese. "The French viewers around me liked it very much and were fanatical about such Chinese style performance. I was thrilled to see that they liked it so much. I had never seen them happier watching a Chinese show." he said.
Estelle, Patrick's sister, was a bit shy when she was interviewed by The Epoch Times reporter. She stepped behind her brother as she said, "They were all good. I like each one of them." When the reporter asked her which one she had remembered, she replied, "I remember all of them."
When asked if they would recommend the show to their friends, both Patrick and Estelle nodded their heads and Patrick said "Sure, sure. We'll tell all our friends, and ask them to come watch it tomorrow."
Paris, France is the fifth nation on Divine Performing Arts' European tour, and the performance on the 29th was their 16th show. The New York-based performing arts company will give three more shows on March 1, and 2, in Paris.
