NEW YORK—New Jersey bank worker Eileen Moccaldi enjoyed the Chinese New Year Splendor currently playing at Radio City Music Hall so much she says she will recommend the show to everybody.

"The [dancing] is very soul-touching. It's not like the American or Western ballet which leaves you feeling very structured in your appreciation. In this [performance], it can take you very deeply into your emotions. That's the way we feel it," she said

Moccaldi said the show was "lovely" and "very different".

"We are now in a new time and in a new age, and people are more aware and they are more interested in not only themselves but in the world around them. So I think everybody would, and especially young children would enjoy this," she said.

Moccaldi attended Wednesday night's show with her friend and co-worker Georgette.

"And we enjoyed the drumming a lot because it gives you a sense of power, and they were fantastic in the ballet as well," Moccaldi said.

She said the first performance was "just beautiful".

"The water ballet with the fans, that was so beautiful, the colors, the feeling of water, and peace, we enjoyed that because it gives a great feeling of relaxation and peace."

She said she noticed that the performers are very focused.

"They are totally dedicated to what they are doing. You don't feel that their mind is wandering. They are totally dedicated," she said.

Moccaldi also enjoyed the piece with the three ladies meditating—the Risen Lotus Flower.

"That was a very beautiful piece and very touching. I thought that was very beautiful. I also think what we are enjoying are the backdrops—they are so fantastic, because they are moving. And they are also capturing your attention," she said.

They found about the show after people promoting the show came to their café to display a poster.

"At lunchtime we stopped by and asked them about the show and what it was all about and they told us 'Chinese New Year, celebration' and that it was going to be fantastic," she said.

The Chinese New Year Splendor continues in New York through Saturday, Feb. 9.
