NEW YORK—Alison Sullivan, a financial analyst on Wall Street, came to see Chinese New Year Splendor with her mother on Chinese New Year's eve.
She said her favorite performance was 'Nymphs of the Sea', a performance where female dancers use special fans and fabric to represent water.
"I thought it was very graceful—the movements with the fans, the women, and the performance," she said.
She also liked the drums because of "the music element and also the dancing."
The erhu player impressed her: "You really got a sense of her passion coming through the music playing the instrument," Ms. Sullivan said.
She liked the unique digital backdrops: "It was well correlated to the pieces themselves. The clarity was impressive given how large the screen is," she said.
Alison and her husband visited China two years ago, where they saw some Chinese shows. She said that she appreciated the different perspective.
Both Alison and her mom said that they would come to see the show again next year.
The Chinese New Year Splendor continues in New York through Saturday, Feb. 9.
