PARIS—Opening night of Divine Performing Arts Chinese Spectacular at the Palais Des Congres in Paris, played to a packed house. The audience was treated to the sensory delights of 5,000 years of traditional Chinese dance and music.
From the the opening scene of a divine world mixing Eastern and Western mythical figures, to the solo numbers about searching for the profound meaning of life, the audience was moved by the beauty of the show.
Louis Pinto, European Director General of an organization called the Societe Upperdesk, said he was struck particularly by the energy of the Drummers of the Tang Court and the Mongolian Bowl Dance.
He said, "this show is magnificent, really at a high level. I appreciated the fact that between each number, the hosts gave explanations. This served to guide the audience through the Chinese culture. It's an excellent introduction to this culture. We followed along well and the balance between song numbers and dance was good, [and each performance was]full of nuances."
Mr. Pinto and his companion especially noticed the number called The Risen Lotus Flower that portrays the persecution of the Falun Gong meditation practice in China. "It was strong…but a good message since looking at China with objectivity is not only 5,000 years history, it is also the reality of today."
His companion, Janet, who lived in Hong Kong for 19 years, also loved the show, and stated that the show's name Spectacular was the perfect name to describe this performance.
