SEOUL, Korea—Many government officials and artists attended the Divine Performing Arts Chinese Spectacular at Seoul's Grand Peace Palace in Kyung Hee University on February 23.

Among them was Kim Woo Kyeong, art director of Dayang Hall at Sejong University.

"The performers' moves were so smooth and in synch. They each had their own individual characteristics, and yet they danced to the music in harmony. More importantly, they expressed themselves from their hearts," said Kim.

"The harmony between the group and individuals was due to a faith the members have. Otherwise they wouldn't have done such a terrific job. Normally people won't be able to achieve such a realm."

Kim did not know anything about Divine Performing Arts before he watched the Spectacular , but he felt that the whole performance was drawing from the grandeur of China's great Tang Dynasty.

He was impressed by the song Truth Alone Sets You Free by baritone Qu Yue, and praised the singer for his broad vocal range and rich voice. He felt there was a special quality and depth about the song.

However, the number that impressed him most was The Risen Lotus Flower.

"I had an acute feeling that people's love and happiness are suppressed, and I had a premonition that they will have a new life on the strength of the people's power," Kim said.

When he was informed that The Risen Lotus Flower was inspired by the persecution of Falun Gong in China, Kim said, "The rebirth of people can be expressed through art."

Seven years ago, a performing arts group led by Kim visited Mongolia. He said that the costumes and movements in the Spectacular's Mongolian Bowel Dance were fabulous.
