ANTWERP—The Divine Performing Arts Chinese Spectacular played its final show at Antwerp's Stadsschouwburg on Wednesday evening to a standing ovation.
"The show was good, beautiful colors. And the dances were very beautiful and portrayed things well," said Leon, a Deurne official who attended the performance.
Leon said he learned about the Spectacular after receiving a flyer at a holiday fair. He enjoyed the show because of its uniqueness and beauty.
"We had real interest in the show, because this is something you cannot normally see. We thought this would be a very beautiful show with dancing, and it turned out to be true."
Also in the audience was Barbara Jansen, a teacher from Bruges. "We didn't know what to expect, but we were pleasantly surprised," she said.
"The orchestra was magnificent, the stories very clear, really positive energy… With the live orchestra, it really gives a special feeling."
Jansen felt that the show taught her a few things about Chinese culture and that her favorite performance was Water Fairies. "It was beautifully choreographed."
After Antwerp, the Divine Performing Arts tour will continue on to Paris, Switzerland, Austria, Slovakia and the Czech Republic.
