SEOUL—New York-based Divine Performing Arts wrapped up a successful four-show, three-day run of the Chinese Spectacular in South Korea on February 24, 2008.
Mr. Kim Gwang-Han, a former radio music program host attended the last show in Seoul. He said, "Chinese traditional culture [expressed by the Divine Performing Arts] will have a significant effect on all Asian countries."
Mr. Kim discussed the show with an Epoch Times reporter. Mr. Kim said that unfortunately, Korean media did not widely report such a pure and righteous artistry to expose such art to a wider circle of people.
Mr. Kim stated, "Seeing a varied set of the dances and stories in Chinese traditional culture, I was deeply impressed by what I saw, and experienced the full wonder of the show. When listening to the Erhu music, my heart was deeply touched. Every country of the world has its own traditional music, but Chinese traditional culture has a significant effect on the globe."
Mr. Kim further complimented the show, "Every program is very good. The technology is well developed in the 21st century, and the technique of expression is also highly developed. The Spectacular by the Divine Performing Arts generated an enormous effect, especially that backdrop using high-tech computer technology which looks like a movie playing on the stage backdrop; it strongly moved the audiences with the creation of ancient mythical stories. The influence of the high-tech backdrop towards audiences is immense and indescribable."
Mr. Kim commented, "It is impossible to truly express ancient arts in the same dimension, because it can't be done as a film-editing process. But the Divine Performing Arts uses modern high-tech computer technology to successfully realize this functionality conveying the inner meaning of ancient arts. With such an effective method, the Divine Performing Arts have succeeded in presenting the essence of traditional Chinese culture. It can also generate a good effect on Korean culture. Everyone should come see this Spectacular. "
He continued, "Such a wonderful performance should be seen by more people. I hope the Divine Performing Arts' show will make Korean people more appreciative of Korean traditional culture."
The Divine Performing Arts' Chinese Spectacular scheduled on February 27 and 28 in Pusan—the second stop in Korea—was cancelled by the KBS theatre due to pressure from the Chinese communist regime.
