ANTWERP—Antwerp's Sradsschouwburg came alive with the sights and sounds of Chinse culture on Wednesday evening for the final performance of the famed Divine Performing Arts Chinese Spectacular.
Among the captivated audience was politician Tanguy Veys, a member of province council of East-Flanders.
"Beautiful, it is the first time I experienced such a thing. This kind of music and image, I know it from books and television, but to experience it in person is a wonderful realization," said Veys after the show.
"The richness of the Chinese culture and the way it is conveyed and the message the public receives."
Vey enjoyed every aspect of the Spectacular.
"The singing was beautiful but I liked the orchestra even more and the dancers with such a tight timing — I was really impressed by that."
He said he liked the "beautiful combination" of the Spectacular's video projection and classical dance.
"The combination of dance and music was done in a very harmonious way, the public was engaged in it and you can feel that and a very strong presentation; a wonderful performance."
Vey also commented on the Falun Gong content in the show. Falun Gong is a meditation practice that is currently brutally suppressed in China. With its principles of truth, compassion and tolerance, Falun Gong is rooted in ancient Chinese culture.
"I think the story of Falun Gong is strong enough to show that what the Communist party claims are nothing but lies," said Vey.
After Antwerp, the Divine Performing Arts tour will continue on to Paris, Switzerland, Austria, Slovakia and the Czech Republic.
