ANTWERP, Belgium—Brightly colored costumes and resonating orchestral music animated Antwerp's Stadsschouwburg Theatre during Wednesday's matinee performance of the Divine Performing Arts Chinese Spectacular.

The unique show delighted the afternoon's theatre-goers and provided the Western European audience with insight into ancient Chinese culture and philosophy.

"It's a Spectacular — that is certain!" said Robert Pieek, a retired engineer who attended the show.

"We came with five people: my wife, myself and three ladies. We have traveled 60 kilometers to get here."

Wishing that more of his friends could have joined them for the show, Pieek said, "We should have taken a bus, a big bus, and filled the bus to come here"

Pieek was intrigued by the unique nature of Chinese traditions showcased in the performance.

"There is a harmony in the movements of the dancers that is specific to the Chinese physique."

Regretfully, Pieek added, "I would like to say to all my friends – since there is no show anymore tomorrow – it's really too bad that they have missed the spectacle."

After a final evening performance in Antwerp, the Divine Performing Art's Chinese Spectacular travels to Paris on the next stop in its international tour.
