ANTWERP, Belgium—"I think it was very good," said avid theatre-goer Erik Verwilgen.
Verwilgen was commenting on the Divine Performing Arts Chinese Spectacular , currently playing at Antwerp's Stadsschouwburg Theatre where he attends shows regularly.
"The combinations of the colours were beautiful, also the way of moving, it was something special. It is another culture. The feeling that remains is relaxation," said Verwilgen, an official at Belgacom, Belgium's biggest phone company. "I especially took a day off at work," he said, adding that he was disappointed the performers did not receive a standing ovation at the matinee he attended on Wednesday.
"I found it a pity that they didn't get a standing ovation this afternoon. There are people in the theatre who don't know this habit, but the artists deserved it," said Verwilgen.
However, the other Spectacular shows at the Stadsschouwburg did receive a standing ovation.
"I was sitting all the way in the front, I have congratulated the conductor and the first violist and I have wished them a nice future," said Verwilgen.
Mr. Vleminx, who also attended Wednesday's show, said was given a ticket to the Spectacular by his son and daughter-in-law.
"I think the show was fantastic. I came here unprepared but I think it was well worth the effort. The clothes, the history that is shown, the texts on the projections are very appropriate, very instructive."
"Just fantastic, I feel very relaxed," added Vlemix.
