Saving a Plane Ticket to New York
Chinese restaurant owner Mr. Ouyang, from Germany, didn't know that Divine Performing Arts were coming to Frankfurt, so he had planned to go to Radio City Music Hall in New York City.
He saw clips of the show on NTDTV and was very impressed. He wanted to see a live performance.
When he was given promotional materials for at his restaurant he was delighted, and immediately bought the best seats for his family.
"This saves me the air tickets to New York City."
He saw the show on Saturday February 16.
Overjoyed Indonesians
Three Indonesian Chinese in their 30s who currently live in Frankfurt cheered and applauded after each program.
They especially enjoyed the two dances about Falun Gong.
When the police were driven away in the dance, they almost jumped up from their seats in of excitement.
When the three characters, "Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance" appeared on the screen and more people were meditating in the dance, they started clapping really loudly.
They said after the show, "This is really excellent. We are so excited."
Tearful Tibetan Girls
Two Tibetan girls in the audience had to leave Tibet recently as political refugees.
They were surprised to be able to see the Divine Performing Arts show during their stay in Germany.
Whenever an image of a Buddha appeared, they put their hands together to show respect.
When the dance "Snowy Mountain, White Lotus" started, they could not hold back their tears.
Chinese Communist Party (CCP) officials in Tibet beat both girls' fathers to death. They said that to be able to flee the CCP's rule is their good fortune, and being able to see the Chinese Spectacular added to their good fortune.
Retired Chinese Professor sees show twice
Mr. Chen, in his 70's, has lived outside of China for more than four decades. He was an economics professor at a university before he retired.
Mr. Chen does not usually like crowds or art performances. But, he came to the Chinese Spectacular twice because he was so impressed after the first show.
"The performances are so great. They are very peaceful. You cannot see this kind of shows during the Mao era, or under the Communist regime.
"Even a government cannot put together such a nice show, despite its plentiful resources."
He expressed great admiration for the Falun Gong practitioners.
"The dances about Falun Gong were very good. They were expressed very artistically."
He commented that both drum dances were very beautiful with nice backdrops.
He also said that the dance "Loyalty of Yue Fei" demonstrated the essence of traditional Chinese culture through art in a very concise way. He spoke highly of it.
