LONDON—The Divine Performing Arts Chinese Spectacular seems to delight all who see it. But it has earned a special place in the hearts of the Chinese diaspora.
Mr. and Mrs. Fung, who moved to London from China 20 years ago, saw the Spectacular for the first time at London's Royal Festival Hall on Saturday.
When asked if seeing the show reminded them of their homeland, Mrs. Fung replied, "It does, yes, remind us of our culture and things."
Mrs. Fung added that she and her husband were "very pleased with the show. We think they have done a very good job and we enjoyed it very much."
With over 200 performers, the show uses dance, drama and song to portray myths and legends from China's 5,000-year history. The 50-piece orchestra plays only original compositions.
"The dancing was very good, very professional," said Mrs. Fung.
The couple found it hard to choose a favorite performance.
"I think they are all very good but I liked the drum one. I liked the drums very much—they're loud, and the costumes are very colorful. They've done a very good job."
