LONDON—As the final Chinese Spectacular closed to a standing ovation at London's Royal Festival Hall on Sunday night, delighted audience members gave their impressions of the show.
Jeebanvip Singh, from Birmingham, made the trip to London with Tina Siaz and other friends to watch the Chinese Spectacular after seeing a flyer outside a Chinese restaurant.
"It was really amazing. It gives you a great insight into Chinese culture," Singh said after the show.
Singh especially enjoyed the vocalists' performances. "I loved the lyrics of the songs and I loved the drums."
"I've been meaning to learn more about Chinese culture and it does encourage you to want to learn more about it."
The show's sponsor, major airline carrier Lufthansa, offered a trip to China as a giveaway. Tina Siaz who won the trip, was ecstatic. She also loved the show.
"Absolutely fantastic," she said. "A performance of the cultural history of China is really interesting."
Siaz was deeply moved by both music and dance. "I really enjoyed the water dance [Water Nymphs] at the start and the Chinese violin [erhu] was absolutely beautiful. It almost made me cry."
The erhu is a two-stringed Chinese instrument known for its wide range of notes and haunting sound.
