LONDON—Being from Hong Kong, Steven Chan particularly enjoyed the Divine Performing Arts Chinese Spectacular at London's Royal Festival Hall. Chan was one of a full house at Sunday's matinee.

"I like the show, I like the music—the composition in particular. It's a great show, western and Chinese coming together. It's quite an updated traditional Chinese art form," said Chan.

Chan works as a chef for a large chain, so "I'm involved with a lot of Chinese and English as well." He recognized some of the dance forms in the Spectacular.

"A lot of Chinese dances are very slow in terms of movement, the pace of it is quite slow, so this is quite condensed. This is faster, and I think that makes it feel a bit more modern and in keeping with the times," said Chan.

Chan added that his favourite piece was Water Fairies and the dancers' "representation of the movement of the water."

"I like the colours, its very vibrant, the movements are traditional, but at the same time in tune with modern dance."
