LONDON—The Divine Performing Arts Chinese Spectacular played to a full house at London's Royal Festival Hall on Saturday evening, and Sue and John Meledes were among the captivated audience.
"I'm absolutely fascinated by everything Chinese," said Sue
"I thought it was for promotion of the Olympics," she added. "But as soon as it opened I realized this was not the case."
"We see lots of ballet and things like that," she said. "So it's nice to see something quite different, and it's refreshing."
Sue is the managing director of Wordlink, a marketing and communication company. Her husband, John, is a property developer.
Sue was impressed by the scale of the show. "Well done I should say. It's a big spectacular! It has a large number of people, lots of colour and movement. It's delightful."
"I was fascinated to see that there are two non-Chinese in the orchestra. I am wondering, do they have they Chinese blood? How do they come to be involved? They blend in beautifully."
John was also impressed with the way that Chinese and western instruments blended in the orchestra.
"For me it's the combination—I like it. The music I enjoyed very much. I think it's a good blend of Chinese and Western."
