LONDON—Glenys Whittle, a retired occupational therapist, said she had never seen anything like the Chinese Spectacular, despite having seen many oriental cultural performances before.

She came to the sold-out Saturday afternoon show at London's Royal Festival Hall, with her husband Geoffrey, a retired accountant.

They said that their favourite performances were the Mongolian tea dance and the drum dance.

"We've been to China, so we've seen Chinese opera and obviously a lot of the culture there, but no we haven't been to anything exactly the same as this before. And the costumes are outstanding, really excellent, well done", she said.

They both enjoyed the digital backdrops.

"The background is so very, very clever, the projections on the screen, they really fit in well with everything that's going on, very, very good", she said.

"The music is lovely and the orchestra has been very, very excellent. We do go to a lot of live concerts, so we do appreciate live spectaculars. But the orchestra here are very, very good."
