LONDON—Property company owner Christian Byfield says the Chinese Spectacular, currently playing a three-day run at London's Royal Festival Hall, goes beyond "just dance."

"It's a nice production in that it is a mixture. It's not just dance, you do get some Chinese opera," he said. "I loved the really rich colours and the different stories from different timelines in Chinese History."

He said he enjoyed the hosts' explanations, delivered in both English and Chinese, which gave him a better understanding of the performances. Having trained as an actor, Byfield was able to appreciate the Spectacular's professional calibre.

"I thought the production was very very professional. It's come on a lot from when I saw it a few years ago…. The quality of the performance was very very strong."

Byfield also shared his thoughts of the pieces in the show which depict contemporary struggles for human rights in China.

"A part of it is about Falun Gong and helping to spread the message that it is a very peaceful happy approach to life and society and is trying to raise awareness about what's happening in China and equally in other countries with different religions and other spiritual beliefs."

"I thought the show was very good and if they bring out a DVD I think anyone that gets the chance to buy it should do so," said Byfield.
