LONDON—John and Ann Paddon, a scientist and retired school teacher respectively, travelled from North East Hampshire to watch the Chinese Spectacular at the Royal Festival Hall in London on Saturday afternoon.
"Oh I thought it was excellent", remarked Ann. "I thought it was very colourful, the dancing was very varied, and there was a lot to see."
"Beautifully executed; I have to say it really works, each bit works", said John. "The skill of the cast was definitely there, and the production was clever. I liked the skilled use of the projection."
"I thought it was good having the comperes too; that was helpful", added Ann. "I had actually bought a program, but you could manage without it."
When talking about the intent of the performance, John's feeling was that it was "to give you a good taste of everything, properly produced".
"We didn't know quite what it was going to be like, but we've had a brilliant afternoon", said Ann.
"It happened to synchronise quite nicely with what we where planning on doing later", added John.
The pair planned to visit an exhibit of the Terracotta army.
"So we're doing a thorough Chinese day."
