LONDON—The Friday evening show of the Divine Performing Arts Chinese Spectacular played to a near full house at London's Royal Festival Hall. The Epoch Times interviewed audience members for their comments on the show.
Ron Brittan, an immigration adviser, said the Chinese Spectacular was "magnificent."
Mr. Brittan said he has only ever seen Chinese shows on TV. "Of course when China puts on shows they're pretty spectacular, but here in person I've never experienced anything like it," he said.
He added: "My wife is Chinese and she insisted on coming. I'm glad I came along with her.
"I didn't think I would really understand it but it's so artistic and colourful and spectacular that I can understand it. I'm trying to look into the meanings but I'm sure i haven't got it all right yet."
"I would certainly come again for something like this."
Steve Johnson, a security manager who practices martial arts, praised the male martial arts performances in the Spectacular saying they were "very subtle".
He said: "I liked the dance with the young man who had to go off to war and his mother tattooed on his back," referring to the "Loyalty of Yue Fei."
"From a martial arts point of view the men were very strong, very subtle and very good. I think it's something for everyone from children to adults. The singing, even the soprano and the man were very good, very good. I think it's nice to have the words but it comes across in the emotion of the song."
"I loved the bamboo and the cherry blossom, very pretty and very nice. I like all the lotus flowers as well, standing on the lotus flowers and doing meditation."
His wife, Deborah, is an acupuncturist. She said:
"I'm very interested in Chinese culture and all the traditions and forsythia flower and lotus because we use that in Chinese medicine."
She added, "Yeah, everything's very precise, everything has meaning behind it. Nothing's done just because, everything has meaning—it's beautiful."
