LONDON—Singer/songwriter Peter Graham enjoyed the traditional culture and costumes at the Chinese Spectacular on Friday.
"The costumes were really good, really nice and original. I know that they were based on traditional patterns."
He said the use of modern fabrics and colours worked well to "exaggerate the beauty of the traditional costume".
"I could feel that authentic research was going on and I like to understand more about Chinese culture," he said.
He was "really interested" in the mixture of Chinese and western instruments in the orchestra.
"The sounds coming from the Chinese instruments are so different and we westerners aren't used to hearing but they're very beautiful.
"So you've got a really good combination and they work very well together and personally I would really like to develop that in my music because I think it brings a much wider field for the audience," he said.
He said the backdrops also work very well, and "give the impression of a lighter existence than we are used to in everyday life".
He especially liked the pastel colours in the backdrop working together with the gold and silver.
"It's certainly a very good programme so I'm going to come again and I've been telling people to come."
