OSAKA, Japan—On February 20, the Divine Performing Arts staged the final production of its Chinese Spectacular in Osaka, receiving a standing ovation from a delighted audience.
Among them was Yang Xi, a 36-year-old businessman from China who said that he had been looking forward to the show.
"I've always wanted to see this show. I read about it and liked it very much, it was fabulous" Yang said.
"It was not just art. There was something transcendent in it. The emotion and relationship between man and God were expressed in art form. It was not the kind of art that we normally know about. There seemed to be a realm that was elevated through art."
Yang, who works in international trade, hails from Tianjin City in China and has lived in Japan for six years.
"I think the performance used the art form to highlight the justice and freedom that people yearn in their hearts. I found it mesmerizing. People would love it."
He said that ever since seeing an advertisement for the Spectacular he had been longing to see it. For him it was a dream come true that the show was playing in Osaka.
"I saw in the show that while people are pursuing happy and harmonious life, there might be evil forces that will try to prevent that dream from becoming true. But as long as everyone steps forward and confronts the evil with justice, the evil will be defeated. The bravery depicted in the show is very encouraging. I think the program was very significant and the performance was so graceful."
Yang added that it's important for people to have faith in order to avoid becoming self-centred.
"I think that people should have faith. They should have a God they worship. Without such faith, people will become self-centered or believe in others. When people idolize themselves, the world will be in a mess. That is why I think that it is good to create a harmonious setting for God and humans through art. The show did a great job in doing that, and I hope I will see it again in the future. "
