THE HAGUE, Netherlands—Having arrived in The Hague, Netherlands on February 19 at the World Forum Theater Divine Performing Arts received standing ovations for their second night in a row with the Shen Yun Chinese Spectacular.
"I think the show is fantastic! I say it's fantastic because I have seen similar shows before, I have been to China myself and eastern culture attracts me very much, and this is fantastic," said Kenneth Ramblacan, a civil engineer who had come to see the February 20 showing with his wife.
"I have experienced the beauty, goodness and harmony in the show. This feeling is not related to one of the performances, it's an overall impression of the show," Mr. Ramblacan said.
Mrs. Ramblacan added, "I would like to mention something about the opera singers. I never heard Chinese opera before and I think it was fantastic. The way they were performing—really beautiful."
Through an array of costumes inspired by ancient Chinese scrolls, and through a unique blend of classical Chinese dance and ballet the show portrayed the true culture of China's ancient civilization, some of which had been all but lost in recent years.
"I know China, so I can feel this. This show indeed doesn't carry any communist culture," Mr. Ramblacan said.
"I have been in different places in China and when I came to different places, actually I didn't have the feeling that China is communist in and of itself. When I see this show, and I know Chinese culture from many aspects, I don't see anything communist in it."
